– Development Around Phoenix Exposes Portion of Hohokam Canal System: While a fierce political battle waged this spring in Mesa over the Riverview at Dobson retail project, a dozen archaeologists working at the proposed development site had bigger things to worry about: They were unearthing one of the largest integrated canal systems the Hohokam Indians ever built in the Valley.
