EVENT: Ancient Astronomy of Northern Arizona

At the second gathering of Archaeology Café, archaeoastronomer Ken Zoll enthusiastically presented his rigorous long-term study of specific kinds of rock-art that seem to represent ancient calendar sites.
ABOUT SPEAKER KEN ZOLL
Sedona resident Ken Zoll serves as President of the Verde Valley Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society and Chair of the Cultural Resources Committee of the Friends of the Forest Sedona. Ken came to Sedona by way of Chicago and Washington D.C., after completing B.S. and M.B.A. degrees at Loyola University and 35 years of service with the federal government. Ken specializes in the identification of ancient calendar and astronomy sites, most notably the 800 year-old solar calendar he discovered and rigorously documented at the V-Bar-V Heritage Site in the Coconino National Forest. His book Sinagua Sunwatchers: An Archaeoastronomy Survey of the Sacred Mountain Basin was released in November 2008.
