EVENT: Chaco’s Unruly and Disobedient Prodigies: How Aztec, Salmon, and Other Settlements in the Middle San Juan River Valley Surpassed Chaco Canyon after A.D. 1100
DATE/TIME: December 2, 2008, at 6:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Casa Vicente, 375 S. Stone Avenue, Tucson, AZ.
At this Archaeology Café, Paul shared insights—informed by more than a decade of his own research—about the distinctive nature of Puebloan culture and settlement history in the middle San Juan region of northwest New Mexico. Paul asserted that ancestral Puebloan communities in this region had strong connections to Chaco Canyon in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, but became more locally focused over subsequent generations.
Paul also discusses his research here.
