Application and Registration

The application form is available here (opens as a fillable PDF). Enrollment is limited, and applications received by March 15, 2025, will receive priority. Application review will begin immediately after that date, and applications will be accepted until the course is filled. The field school is limited to 12 students, graduate and undergraduate.

Funding: Funding is available for Native American students.

We have applied for additional grant funding from the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. If we are awarded this funding, all 10 undergraduate students who attend will receive a stipend of $4700 to support their attendance. Graduate students and foreign students may attend the field school, but are not eligible for the REU program funding.

Course credit: Once accepted, students may register for a three-credit field course and a four-credit lab course through either the University of Arizona or Western New Mexico University. Please check with your advisor about transferring credits to your home university.

Course fees: If our grant funding application is unsuccessful, the field school will cost $5,441 per student excluding tuition. This includes all lodging, food, and transportation during the 7-week field school. (We will be able to waive this fee for undergraduates and substantially reduce it for graduate students if our grant application is successful, as well as provide undergraduates with a stipend. Watch for updates in February!)
